Adding Textures in Blender

I have been learning to add materials in Blender.  I enjoy the Halloween theme as I can make the scene quite dark. I like the idea of adding lights to a dark environment. I created this short animated scene.   I began practising adding texture to objects in blender. I applied a brick texture to the ground which went very well. I also added some Leaf’s to the ground to make it look more realistic. I directed the light too hit the ground to give it a wet look effect and also made the light shade green to give it some colour.

This is the texture I have applied to the ground

I applied this texture by using an image texture shader. I’ve connected the colour to the base colour using a principled BSDF Surface.

Blender Software research

Blender 2.9 is a free and open source, 3D
computer graphic software used for creating
animation films, visual effects art, 3D printed
models, motion graphics, interactive 3D
applications and virtual reality in computer games.
This software can also used to create 2D and 3D animations,
photographs and videos. Blender software is an amazing
software that enables me to create some great
animations. I love the many different camera
angles that I can record from. You can enjoy
sculpting objects, colouring and animating
them.
You can create and rig characters, backgrounds
and render your movies all in the same space.
The fact that Blender is a go to open source
software for animation for is a great. As a
freelancer Blender is a great place to create
your animations without worrying about
breaking any copyrighting laws as you can
choose to create from scratch. There are
multiple tutorials available on YouTube and
other video outlets, which you can find doing
simple searches via the Internet.

Fantasy Environment Idea

I’ve been thinking about the 3D space that I will be creating in Blender. I have come up with an idea for my space and have completed some sketches of the layout and objects to be modelled. I’m thinking about the space I want to create, and have taken many screenshots of similar locations, items and objects.
The space that I want to create has helped me to think about the object that would be included in the space.

These images are inspiration for the type of space I want to create.

Ive chosen this kind of space as I want to create this environment, which is a space were people who have passed on visit. In this location people will be asked to sign a contract with the devil.

Modelling a house in Maya

this was a class tutorial in becoming familiar with modelling in Maya I am becoming more familiar with some modelling tools like merge, extrude, mirror, bridge, bevel and multi cut. I’m also going over using hypershade which is where you at the texture  of the object.

UV Texturing Treasure chest

Following a UV Texturing class tutorial, I textured this model of a chest in Maya, we Learn how to create UV maps to enable us to Paint on 3D objects. We learn to flatten out the 3D model into a 2D image for texture mapping. We also learn how to export the map two other platforms for example After Effects, where we can paint on to the surface. We then import our UV map back to Maya and assign it back to our 3D object.

Materials, Shaders & Texture

Today we’ve been learning how to add PBR materials shaders and textures in Maya. This is really great as it helps to bring alive the modelled object. One of the sites we were introduced to was texture.com, which has many sample materials. We learned how to apply these textures to objects.  We learn how to apply the the Albedo, Height, Normal, Roughness and Ambient occlusion. These are the different materials applied and once combined, give us the desired appearance of the final material. we also learned how to scale the texture projection to fit in with the desired outcome.

Organic Modelling & NURBs

This week been learning to use Organic modelling tools to create different objects, hard surface (inorganic) and organic. I have been practising to use tool and techniques such as extrusions, booleans, soft selection/sculpt, smooth, deformers and NURBs.

Image shows the use of the boleen tool to cut out the inside of the pumpkin.

The image below shows the cutting out of the pumpkin head also using the boleen tool.

Starting Maya 3D Modelling

This week we have been learning to model a building, using box modelling techniques. This is my first time using Maya and so far so good.
